From the bicentennial to the 250th
In 1976, Waverly produced a special run of cotton toile for America's bicentennial — Philadelphia Toile. Across yards of soft blue and ivory, the founding moments of the country were etched in fine detail: Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, the eagle and shield, the quiet stone buildings where a new nation was argued into being.
Half a century later, as the country turns 250, Shelley is cutting up her small bolt of fabric and letting it go.
